League costs breakdown

There seems to be some confusion out there about where the league fees go.   The misconception is that D&R Star is keeping most of the money, or that the money is disappearing.

The following is a breakdown of where the money goes in EVERY D&R STAR LEAGUE.

The first 62.5 cents of every players league fee goes to an administrative fee ($.375) and a D&R team tournament enhancement fee ($.25).  All of the remaining money goes back to the players in the form of payback, trophies and banquet funds (as determined by the league) regardless of the league fee amount.

Example:  The Rochester league voted to have $.25 per player per week go towards a banquet fund and to pay for sponsor plaques for 1st place in each division. (A,B,C,& D).

The Rochester league fee is $4.00 per player.  The deductions each week are: $.375 (admin fee) + $.25 (D&R tournament) for a total of $.625

In the Rochester AB League, each team will play 18 matches.

(18 matches) x ($3.375) x (4 players) = ($243 per team)

($243 per team) x (7 teams) = ($1701) total payback

The banquet fund totals (18 matches) x ($.25) x (4 players) x (7 teams) = $126.00

Sponsor plaques for the 1st place A & 1st place B cost about $40.00

In the Rochester CD League, each team will play 20 matches.

(18 matches) x ($3.375) x (4 players) = ($243 per team)

($243 per team) x (9 teams) = ($2187) total payback

The banquet fund totals (18 matches) x ($.25) x (4 players) x (9 teams) = $162.00

Sponsor plaques for the 1st place A & 1st place B cost about $40.00

Out of $4608 in league fees paid by the Thursday night teams, D&R will keep $432 ($21/week) in administrative fees, $288 will go toward the D&R Tournament team payback, and $3888 will go back to the players in the form of payback, banquet, and trophies.

*Administrative fees pay for the cost and time involved in promoting the leagues, recruiting players, setting up the leagues, updating the web-site, fixing board problems, answering questions at all hours of the day and night, and general league maintenance (team info updates, position night scheduling, rules issues, and sanctioning).  Not bad for $21.00 per week.
